Pickens City Council turns down $16M in stimulus money

Pickens City Council has rejected $16 million in federal loan and stimulus money that was to be used for a major overhaul of the city’s aging water plant…Instead, the city will seek scaled-down options for the upgrade of the plant instead of the full $16 million plan that was on the table in addition to alternative financing options.

Lancaster County’s new “Red Ventures” company granted incentives for new facility

The company will be granted incentives in return, including job-development credits, which Red Ventures is able to collect once it creates new jobs.
The Commerce Department is giving Lancaster County a $250,000 grant for related infrastructure upgrades, and Red Ventures will get 18 years of property taxes discounted by 50 percent.
