College of Charleston hires another taxpayer-funded lobbyist

Ashley Landess, president of The South Carolina Policy Council, a conservative think tank in Columbia that is pushing for more transparency in government, said there’s no excuse for public universities to hire lobbyists. School leaders don’t need a lobbyist to sit with them in a meeting to get legislators to listen to them, she said.

Landess was quoted as saying; the universities are “forcibly taking public money to promote an agenda the public doesn’t necessarily agree with…It’s insane and wrong,” she said.
